Welcome to Athens! Upon arrival at the airport or port, you’ll be met by your private driver and transferred to your downtown hotel. Spend the afternoon exploring Plaka, Athens’ oldest quarter, where charming tavernas and cobbled streets wind beneath the Acropolis. Overnight in Athens.
After breakfast, embark on a half-day guided city tour. Visit the Panathenaic Stadium, Hadrian’s Arch, and Syntagma Square before ascending the Acropolis, where the Parthenon and Erechtheion crown the skyline. After breakfast, travel to Edessa to view its famous waterfalls, then continue to Naoussa to visit Aristotle’s School, where the philosopher taught Alexander the Great. Proceed to Vergina (Ancient Aigai) to explore the Royal Tombs of Macedonia, including the resting place of King Philip II. Stop in Veria to visit St. Paul’s Bema and stroll through its historic Jewish quarter before returning to Thessaloniki. Dinner at your hotel and overnight in Thessaloniki. (B,D)
After breakfast, visit Pella, birthplace of Alexander the Great, to admire the ancient mosaics and museum collections. Continue to Dion, the sacred city of the Macedonians, at the foot of Mount Olympos. Drive south through Thermopylae, where Leonidas’ Monument marks the legendary battle, then on to Athens.
